Our Impact
❤️Thank you to the Safe and Warm Communities Grant, we delivered meaningful, culturally tailored sessions for local community members — particularly through our Punjabi Singing Group and Sewing Group.
🔥Practical Help That Makes a Difference Our workshops reached 28 participants in just the first session, providing essential information on:
- How to save energy and reduce bills
- Keeping homes warm and preventing damp
- Gas safety at home - Accessing local support services.
Many participants told us this was the first time they had received guidance on these topics — in fact, over 70% had very limited knowledge before attending. This led to follow-up visits and one-on-one support, ensuring no one was left behind.
🧵Learning by Doing: The Sewing Group In our Sewing Group, women learned to make drought excluders, combining practical skills with home-warming solutions. This creative, hands-on approach helped participants not only improve their homes but also feel more confident and capable.
🥘 More Than Just Information: Building Connections These sessions offered more than practical advice — they became a space for social connection and well-being. Sharing traditional Indian meals helped break down cultural barriers, reduce isolation, and create a true sense of community.
One 60-year-old attendee with disabilities described the session as life-changing — helping him understand how to stay warm and safe, and motivating him to seek additional support.
🙏 Our Thanks We are deeply grateful to Action Hampshire for making this work possible. The flexibility of the grant, along with excellent resources, allowed us to tailor the project to our community’s needs and deliver it smoothly.
