What do we do?
Cross-Culture Hub CIC
Cross-Culture Hub CIC is a community-driven social enterprise dedicated to empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds and promoting inclusion in British society. We provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where people of all ages and cultures can learn new skills, share experiences, build confidence and create meaningful social connections.
Skill-Building Classes
Sewing, knitting, embroidery, Mug/T-shirt Printing, craft and digital skills.
We run skill-building classes to help people learn practical and creative skills that build confidence, independence and sustainability awareness. These skills help participants repair and reuse items, reduce waste and save money. These sessions also support pathways into training, volunteering or employment while reducing loneliness by bringing people together in a friendly and supportive space.

COMMUNITY EVENTS
Intergenerational Skill-Sharing
Cross-Culture Hub CIC runs intergenerational skill-sharing projects to bring people of all ages and backgrounds together through learning and creativity. In partnership with Southampton University, older members of our community learned digital skills while university students learned a traditional Punjabi song, which they performed at a university event celebrating music and culture. This collaboration highlighted the power of cross-cultural learning, with participants sharing songs in Punjabi, English, and Māori, creating a vibrant and joyful experience.
Our projects also connect children with our sewing group, where they learn practical skills such as sewing buttons, making pockets, and knitting winter hats, while sharing their own talents in arts and crafts. These activities foster confidence, creativity, and friendships across generations and cultures, helping participants feel included and part of the wider community. We are proud to have been supported by the Children’s Mayor of Southampton and local leaders, and we continue to provide these opportunities for skill-building, cultural exchange, and meaningful connections.
Cross-Cultural Exchange Meals
We also run Cross-Cultural meal-sharing events where people from different backgrounds share affordable, budget-friendly recipes. These meals give participants the chance to talk about their culture and learn about others’ traditions and values. Food helps build strong connections and brings people together in a relaxed and friendly way. During these sessions, we also support healthy choices by helping people understand food labels and learn about ingredients that may affect their health.
Cost of Living Support Support
From April to July 2025, we delivered weekly Cost of Living Advice Sessions at the YMCA to support individuals and families facing financial challenges. The sessions offered practical advice on budgeting and managing everyday costs in a friendly and welcoming space. We also included creative and cultural activities, such as traditional Chinese knot-making, to encourage connection and wellbeing.
Alongside advice and signposting to local services, we provided direct support through supermarket vouchers to help with food costs. Participants told us the sessions helped them feel less alone, better informed, and more confident in managing their finances.
We organise community events to help people feel connected, confident, and part of the city. Our activities include cross-cultural meal-sharing and group visits to local places such as cinemas, parks, and community events. These group outings help people become familiar with their surroundings and feel a sense of belonging in their local area, supporting their smooth integration into society.
Cancer Awareness and Health/Mental Wellbeing Support
Cross-Culture Hub CIC runs health and cancer awareness sessions to support Asian-immigrant and other minority communities in Southampton. Many participants face cultural, language, or economic barriers that make it harder to access healthcare, understand early warning signs of illness, or prioritise their health. Our sessions provide culturally tailored information on cancer types, prevention, and early detection, helping participants recognise changes in their bodies and seek timely medical care. Through talks from health professionals, personal survivor stories, and practical activities such as blood pressure checks and guidance on healthy lifestyles, participants gain confidence to make informed health choices. The project also offers support for hospital appointments and ongoing health guidance, reducing fear and stigma, encouraging open conversations, and promoting overall wellbeing.
We collaborate closely with local healthcare professionals, organisations, and community partners to enhance our sessions, provide expert advice, and offer additional support on general health and wellbeing. By welcoming people from diverse backgrounds, including South Asian, Black, and White British communities, we foster inclusivity, cross-cultural learning, and stronger community connections.
Looking Ahead
We plan to organise local tours and cultural visits—like trips to the Titanic Museum—to help immigrants feel more connected to British history and identity. By learning about the places they live in, they’ll feel a stronger sense of belonging and be more confident participants in their communities.
